MISSION statement
‘화이트반스페이스(WHITE BARN SPACE)’는 자신만의 독특한 언어를 구사하는 작가들에게 창작과 전시 기회를 제공하는 예술공간으로, 장르간 경계를 정하지 않는 예술과 획기적인 전시 방식을 지향하는 공간을 만들고자 합니다.
• 문화∙예술 및 미술이 가진 선(善)한 영향력을 믿으며 기존 미술계 시스템과 다른 체계∙방식을 적극 수용∙개척합니다.
• 제도권이 받아들이지 못하는 작가들에게 실험적인 아이디어를 마음껏 펼치며 창작할 수 있는 여건을 마련하고 그들이 국내∙외의 거대한 현장으로 나아갈 수 있도록 하는 스텝핑스톤(Steppingstone)의 역할을 합니다.
• 토론과 교육을 통하여 지역∙사회 안에 파급력 있는 미술 담론을 형성하고 사회 문제와 문화 소외 해결에 긍정적으로 기여합니다.
• 아트 아카이브 구축 및 정보 공유를 통해 경계없는 예술의 교류와 소통의 장을 마련∙유지합니다.

MISSION statement
‘WHITE BARN SPACE’ is an art space that provides an exhibition opportunities to artists who speak their own unique and creative language. It aims to create a space that pursues art that does not set boundaries between genres and an innovative exhibition method.
• We believe in the positive influence art and culture it has, and we actively accept and pioneer systems and methods that are different from the existing Art world ‘system’.
• We serve as a steppingstone to create conditions for artists who cannot be accepted by the institutional system to freely express their experimental ideas and creativity, and to enable them to advance into large fields at home and abroad.
• Through discussion and education, we form influential art discourse within the region and society and contribute positively to solving social problems and cultural alienation.
• We make and maintain a space for borderless interchange of art and communication through the establishment of art archives and information sharing.
HISTORY
‘화이트반스페이스(WHITE BARN SPACE)’는 2021년 4월 파주시 성동리에서 자신만의 예술세계를 가진 잠재력 있는 신진 작가들과 경력이 단절되어 꿈을 펼칠 수 없던 작가들에게 창작과 전시 기회를 제공하며 시작되었습니다.
획기적인 전시 방식과 장르나 경계를 정하지 않는 새로운 작품을 선보이는 예술공간으로, 미술 교육과 토론을 기반으로한 아티스트 인큐베이팅 과정을 만들고 독특한 작품과 전시를 통해 혁신적인 미술의 담론을 지속적으로 제시하고 있습니다.
‘WHITE BARN SPACE’ has opened in Seongdong-ri, Paju-si since April 2021, providing exhibition opportunities to potential new artists with their own art world and artists who were unable to pursue their dreams due to a break in their careers.
It is an art space that presents innovative exhibition methods and art works that do not set genres or boundaries. we are creating an artist incubation process based on art education and discussion and presenting innovative art discourse through unique works and exhibitions.
