화이트반스페이스(Whitebarn Space)는 2021년 ‘드로잉 프로젝트(Drawing Project)’의 첫 전시에 이어, 올해 두 번째 전시를 개최하였다. ‘드로잉 프로젝트’는 드로잉의 예술적 가치를 공유하고, 드로잉이란 장르의 새로운 의미를 탐구하고자 시작되었고, 다섯 명의 작가들은 드로잉에 대한 각자의 생각을 나누면서 자신만의 아이디어를 발현할 수 있는 전시를 만들었다.
전시는 정제되지 않은 형식들과 내용들이 이어지고 있어 보이지만, 이는 기존의 미술 작업과 전시들의 정형화된 방식을 따르지 않으려 자유롭게 놓아두려 한 결과이다. 작가들은 하나의 작품을 위해 고민하고, 어떤 목적을 향해 달려가듯 완성된 작업을 진행한 것이 아니다. 그들이 일상에서 품었던 고민들을 풀어헤치고, 불현듯 이어지는 생각과 태도를 그저 던져두었을 뿐이다. 작품의 제목이나 내용 설명도 작가의 자유에 맡겨두었다.
〈ALTERNATIVE MIND〉는 우리가 배우고 또 가졌던, 이전의 예술적 태도와 다른 새로운 지향점을 나타내려 하였다. 전보다 새롭기만 한 것이 아니라 그 안의 과정들과 변화의 움직임들을 만날 수 있다.

WHITE BARN SPACE held its second exhibition this year, following the first exhibition of ‘Drawing Project’ in 2021. The ‘Drawing Project’ began to share the artistic value of drawing and explore new meanings of the genre of drawing, and five artists created an exhibition where they could share their thoughts on drawing and express their own ideas.
The exhibition appears to have a series of unrefined forms and contents, but this is the result of an attempt to leave things free and not follow the standardized methods of existing art works and exhibitions. Artists do not worry about a piece of work and proceed with the completed work as if they are running toward a certain goal. They simply resolved the concerns they had in their daily lives and threw away the thoughts and attitudes that suddenly followed. The title and content description of the work were also left to the freedom of the author.
〈ALTERNATIVE MIND〉 attempted to express a new direction that was different from the previous artistic attitude we had learned and had. Not only is it newer than before, but you can also see the processes and movements of change within it.
