화이트반스페이스(Whitebarn Space)는 2021년 ‘드로잉 프로젝트(Drawing Project)’의 첫 전시에 이어, 올해 세 번째 전시를 개최하였다. ‘드로잉 프로젝트’는 드로잉의 예술적 가치를 공유하고 드로잉이란 장르의 새로운 의미를 탐구하고자 시작되었다.

 

작가들은 드로잉에 대한 각자의 생각을 나누면서 자신만의 아이디어를 발현할 수 있는 기회를 가졌고 〈THE UNEXPECTDE〉는 우연히 만남을 가지게 되었던 작가들이 약 8주 동안 모임을 가지며 자신도 미처 알지 못했던, 예기치 못한 방식의 작업을 끌어내려고 노력하였다.

이번 전시에서는 작가들이 그동안에 진핸한 작업 과정과 흐름들을 살펴보며 개개인의 의문점들을 어떻게 풀어나가려 하였는 지 알 수 있도록 하였다. 작가들은 ‘드로잉’을 통하여 각자의 생각들을 거침없이 이끌어내고 그것이 어떤 방향으로 흘러갈 지 예상하지 못한 채 자신을 되돌아보고 내면에 담겨진 이야기들을 하나하나 발견하고 보여주었다.

이들이 진행한 ‘드로잉’의 과정은 기존의 미술이 가진 개념의 틀을 조금이라도 변화시킬 수 있는 작은 기회가 되었으면 한다. 그리고 그들의 경험이 진실로 자신이 원하는 미술을 찾아가는 이정표가 되었으면 하는 바람이다.

White Barn Space held its third exhibition this year, following the first exhibition of ‘Drawing Project’ in 2021. The ‘Drawing Project’ began to share the artistic value of drawing and explore new meanings of the genre of drawing.

 

Artists had the opportunity to express their own ideas by sharing their thoughts on drawing, and in 〈THE UNEXPECTDE〉, artists who had met by chance met for about 8 weeks and developed ideas in unexpected ways that they were not aware of, tried to bring out the work of .

In this exhibition, we were able to see how the artists attempted to resolve their individual questions by looking at their intensive work processes and flows. Through ‘drawing,’ the artists brought out their own thoughts without hesitation, looked back on themselves, and discovered and showed the stories contained within, one by one, without predicting what direction it would take.

​

I hope that the ‘drawing’ process they conducted will be a small opportunity to change the conceptual framework of existing art even a little. And I hope that their experience will serve as a guidepost to finding the art they truly want.
